New Public List Feature adam Silver Star Critiquer/Silver Note Writer [C: 16 W: 0 N: 16] (132)::2005-05-14 2:05
There is now a public list feature available. Any previously created list may now be marked as "public" so that anyone may view them, as well as optionally joining up.

I think this can be used in numerous ways, like for those with special interests, to group circles of friends, etc. If there are any problems please let me know, thanks!

The following is a post from TrekEarth which explains what the new Publist Lists are about. I thought I'd post it here because some members may want instructions:

From TrekEarth:
Due to the constant growth of this site, it's becoming harder and harder to keep up with posts by like-minded people. This new feature is designed to let you decide who and what to follow. Are you only interested in left-handed photographers from North America? Or maybe you only want to read critiques by people who post in-depth critiques? However you wish to organize a set a members, it is now possible using this new customized list feature.

Customized lists are an extension of the Favorites feature where it's possible to view all photos or critiques in your Favorites list. It is now possible to create up to 5 different lists and store up to 50 members per list. These lists are private and are not viewable by other members. How you name and define the list is up to you.

Some ideas:

-Leica Lovers -> To view photos of your favorite photographers who mostly use Leica.

-In-Depth Critiquers -> To view critiques by your favorite critiquers

-RTW Travelers -> To see what round-the-world travellers are up to

Currently there is are Members, Photos and Critiques tabs. Other tabs will be added in the future, such as Workshops and Discussions.

As always, if there are any suggestions, please let me know, thanks.

Note that to keep things interesting and fresh it's recommended to browse the general gallery to see if there any members who fit the parameters of what you're looking for.

--Added--
To create a list: Click 'My Account' -> 'Profiles' -> 'Lists Profile'

To add a member to list: Click 'Add to List' on member's Intro page.

Hi, I'm new to this site and came accross your Tulip picture quite by chance. I've got the lyrics to the song "Tulips from Amsterdam" and here they are:

TULIPS FROM AMSTERDAM
Max Bygraves

When it's Spring again I'll bring again
Tulips from Amsterdam
With a heart thats true I'll give to you
Tulips from Amsterdam
I can't wait until the day you fill
These eager arms of mine
Like the windmill keeps on turning
That's how my heart keeps on yearning
For the day I know we can share these
Tulips from Amsterdam

When it's Spring again I'll bring again
Tulips from Amsterdam
With a heart thats true I'll give to you
Tulips from Amsterdam
I can't wait until the day you fill
These eager arms of mine
Like the windmill keeps on turning
That's how my heart keeps on yearning
For the day I know we can share these
Tulips from Amsterdam

Share these tulips from Amsterdam

I hope this helps
Regards
Dirk

I was hoping to have a list in which I could 'drag' forum discussions which I would like to keep track of or like to keep as references.
Some forum discussions have valuable points made by members and are good for future references without the need to copy/past them into a word processor and file them.
Is this possible?
Thank you

I agree Helmut! Helpful forum threads like how to upload a panoramic, how to make a link, how to make a travelogue seem to be popular and consistently asked in the forums.
I think if we could "pin" our favorite forum threads to our intro page without having to link it, much like the new "public lists" links that we have NO control over, would be beneficial to us as members.

The public lists are tagged to our intro pages without our approval.

I do think we should have more say in what's on our intro page.

Scott, I've been using a program called ClipCache for many years that will 'expand' your clipboard capabilities and allow you to store innumerable URL's right on your menu icon area of your computer. Quite a nice little program. You can also back up the files/databases created.

That's great Gary, thanks for the info.
I just thought that with the addition of things we might NOT want on our intro page, we might be able to have a choice of something we might want to save.
Nothing against your suggestion....really, I will look into it...it's just if I started a public group called Terrible Teachers and your name was in it, how would you feel? Especially if you couldn't do anything about it. Of course, I don't mean that you are a terrible teacher....it was an example.
