Young cancer victim trip tnsweethart (0)::2006-08-16 21:42
Hi, I am new here. I only know one member. I have a situation that I would like to know if anyone here would like to help me with. I live in Crossville, TN, USA and there is a little girl, five years old, that is in the last stages of cancer. She has been receiving mail from all of the fifty states and pictures. I would like to send her on a virtual trip around the world with some help. What I am meaning is people sending her pictures and information on her level so she could feel like she has been different places. She has brain stem cancer and nothing is going to cure her. She is confined to a make-shift potty chair/recliner in the grandparents home. She is in constant pain when not asleep. She looks forward to the mail every day to see what people have sent her. I was wondering if any of you on here would like to open your hearts and help me with this. I can provide you with the mailing address through private message if you would like to help make this little girl smile. She is not related to me, but she has won my heart! She will never be able to leave her house again unless it is to the hospital.

If you would like to help, please let me know. If this is against the rules for this forum, I apologize. I found a familar face here so thought I would ask.

I guess no one here is interested. Sorry I bothered you. I will look else where to find some people to send her some mail and pictures. Take care and God bless!

Hi Bobby Jo,
By coincedence I visit TrekLens, I'm a member here, (but never active and more active on Trekearth), and I happened to read this message, I guess it was just meant to be that I had to read it.
I'm sure people want to send this little girl a lot of stuff, but I guess this forum is not the best place for it.
If I were in your place, I would again write a message in the "General Forum". In that forum your message would get the exposure that you want, but not here.
I think it's great that you picked this up, and yes, I would like to send the little girl photos, messages, funny stuff, if I can find it, so I would like to have her e-mailaddress. And I'm sure that more people want to do that. I'm not familiar with TrekLens, but I guess the people are not less friendly here than on TE, which is the site I'm active on. So please, repost it in the general forum.
All the best, Rinie

Hi Bobby Jo,

TrekLens is probably a bad choice for a couple of reasons:

1) There is a relatively low membership in comparison to TrekEarth

2) TrekEarth is specifically designed for people to "learn about the world through photography"

I spend little time on this site and have just seen your original note. We all have our problems and grievances but that poor little girl, her family and friends must be going through hell right now. How they are coping is completely beyond my comprehension.

I'm not sure what, if anything, I can do to help (and this is where we all feel so utterly helpless) but, if it's okay, I'd like to send this young lady a photo from my home town of Braintree, Essex in the UK.

Please let me know where to send the photo to.

Kind regards,

Paul.
