Brandenburg Gate (German: Brandenburger Tor) is a former city gate and one of the main symbols of Berlin and Germany. It is located west of the city center at the intersection of Unter den Linden and Ebertstraße, immediately west of the Pariser Platz. It is the only remaining gate of a series through which one formerly entered Berlin. One block to the north stands the Reichstag. The gate is the monumental entry to Unter den Linden, the renowned boulevard of linden trees which formerly led directly to the city palace of the Prussian monarchs. It was commissioned by King Frederick William II of Prussia as a sign of peace and built by Karl Gotthard Langhans from 1788 to 1791. The Brandenburg Gate was restored from 2000 to 2002 by the Stiftung Denkmalschutz Berlin (Berlin Monument Conservation Foundation). Today, it is considered one of Europe's most famous landmarks.

Hi Silvio,
This is a difficult capture, yet I think you succeeded to produce the best from it!
Being a contre-jour photograph, you managed well the light and produced some natural color to the people in the foreground!
Even the gate is somewhat illuminated!
Nice control all over!
Marvelous effect and I accept the result!
Well done,

Francis Xavier

Ciao Silvio,
What a coincidence that I was listening to an Brandenburg concerto recording this morning. The decorative gate is emphasized, the lamp post is an attractive piece, and the crowd enjoying the moment complete the scene. My best regards...

Hi Silvio,
Very beautiful daily life scene.Excellent lighting and silhouettes.TFS.
Ciao,

Hi Silvio,
It's never easy shooting directly into the harsh sun, but you've managed it quite well. The only thing I'd remove however are the sun spots, they seem like a bit of a distraction. Great capture of the cyclists riding by though, the people sitting look like they're winding down after a long day.

TFS,
Scott.

Hi Silvio,

The direct sunlight overhead makes this a difficult shot, but you've managed it well. I really like your POV along the curb as it leads past the folks at rest on to what lies beyond. Very sharp depiction of this famous piece of architecture along with the daily life aspect of the tourists.

Best regards,
Werner

dear Silvio,
this light and low POV are impressive.
the gate and the people make beautiful and metaphoric silhouette in this picture.
I especially like this contrast between the shadow on the stone ground and the sun in the sky, it makes me feel the time in the history.
thank you for your excellent shot,
Akihisa

Nice composition with plenty of interest around the gate. Good colours and details. I hope you dont mind but I have done a workshop. I hope you like.
warm regards
David

This has a very nice mood to it. I like the detail in the fg and the shadows. The people look SOOOO relaxed! A great daily life capture. TFS

Silvio
