Yesterday, on Mar. 1, I visited the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary in Calgary, Alberta. There's a spot at the end of one of the trails, which provides an excellent view of the Bow River. There were Mallards and Seagulls standing on many of the large pieces of ice that have not yet been broken up. Goldeneyes let themselves be taken by the current down the river, where they dove under the edge of the ice to find some food. Then, they flew back up the river. The sky was quite blue, with only a trace of light clouds. It was indeed a lovely afternoon.

While I was taking in all of the activity on the river, two Canada Geese flew overhead. The photo I have posted is the first one I took of them. It shows the lead goose poised to make a "power stroke", and the one behind ready to exercise a "recovery stroke". I was using ISO 800, and had to deal with a little noise. I used Neat Image to do noise reduction, and CS4 to crop and slightly sharpen (carefully). I increased the contrast a bit and reduced the brightness just a touch, so that I could bring out the birds a little and maintain the subtle clouds in the blue sky.

Hi John
Thanks for sharing the two Geese in flight.
Very good POV. The blue sky is beautiful.

It seems like either "power stroke" or "recovery stroke" they still hiding their legs "some where".
Best regards
HienVy

Hi John
It's great to see the Canada Geese flying again. You've captured this pair so nicely against the blue sky. Having one with it's wings up and one with it's wings down creates an nice composition. Let hope this weather continues.

Hi John
A good sign that the weather will start behaving when you see them returning.
Not easy to catch them so sharp and I like the result, they look great against that sky
Good PP, wish I had CS4 I hear it does wonders for photos.
